Course or workshop description

These sessions are funded by The Outdoor Partnership, to help more women access sport and develop their skills. We will give first offers to those living in West Cumbria, and then open up to people living elsewhere. When? The sessions will run on a Monday evening, for 6 weeks starting on January 6th, finishing on 10th February. The sessions will run from 6pm - 7.30pm, and we will meet at 6pm upstairs in the cafe area at Kong climbing wall in Keswick. Who can come? Any women or non-binary people aged 18+. Prior experience? This developers course is suitable for anyone who can already competently top rope belay, tie in, and climb independently at climbing walls. This course will be focussed on developing your skills. We will look at lead belaying and lead climbing, progressing your personal climbing skills, and using all the different facilities in a climbing wall confidently and safely. Cost? The 6 week course costs just £30 total and includes instruction, kit hire, and climbing wall entry. There will be a maximum group size of 6. Instructors and kit: The sessions will be taught by fully qualified and insured instructors working on behalf of The Outdoor Partnership. Esther will be there some weeks and there will be other local instructors running the sessions other weeks. Harnesses, belay devices and rock shoes will be provided, or you can bring your own if you have them. Am I fit enough or strong enough?!! There will be a mix of abilities on the session, and it doesn't matter what grade you climb. I would like to attend this course but can't make it every week? Please only book on to this course if you can attend at least 4 of the sessions. Unfortunately we can only take bookings and payments for the full 6 week course at once. If you can't make one of the weeks, just let us know in advance. Afterwards? Our instructors will be running a womens social climb from 7.30pm - 8.30pm each Monday after the course. You will be welcome to stay on and climb after the course if you like. If you have any questions about the course, please contact Claire (claire.bryant@outdoorpartnership.co.uk) or Esther (ask@estherfoster.co,uk)
